It's hard to believe this is our final blog post for the 2022-2023 school year!!! We had a fantastic LWOS (Last Week of School). On Monday and Tuesday we made ice cream from scratch and everyone agreed that it was delicious. We also enjoyed root beer from the simple syrup the Forest Club kids made last week. The reviews on that were mixed (although the adults unanimously agreed it was also delicious).
Wednesday was a boatload of fun with our Summer Solstice Family Gathering. Thank you for celebrating with us! Seeing the kids play instruments along with the band and leave their handprints on our tree painting (to be proudly displayed in our schoolhouse) brought us so much joy. It's an honor to witness (and be apart of) the friendships that have developed between families this school year. We look forward to keeping it going in 2023-2024.
At the end of the week we had a big time with bicycles, balance bikes, tricycles, and scooters. We blocked off the parking lot for additional riding space. The potholes and mulch piles actually provided some welcome obstacles and challenges (although you can look forward to a freshly paved parking lot in August!). The children discovered a sand pile that was off-limits the rest of the school year, so that was also a really big hit.
We celebrated summer birthdays (Adria, Waylon, Isla O., and Kai) and ended the week with some refillable water balloons.
The idea for The Montessori Field School was born in January 2021, and here we are 17 months later with a full and successful school year behind us. It's hard to believe! We cannot thank you enough for putting your faith in us to be with your children each day. It's just going to keep getting better, and we're honored to have you on this journey with us.
Things to Look Forward To
The first day of school for 2023-2024 is August 10th! Open House is August 5th and Family Orientation is August 7th.
Our schoolhouse journey has been quite the saga, but we're excited about that addition to Base Camp (especially for the winter months). We may have some opportunities for families to be involved in its construction, so stay tuned for July updates and potential volunteer days.
Our new staff will be joining us for the upcoming school year! They are WONDERFUL and we can't wait to add them to the team.
Until then, please enjoy your summer adventures (and feel free to visit base camp with your family!). Heather's family is venturing to a new spot - the Nolichucky River - and then spending some time with extended family on Lake Oconee in Georgia. Kris's family is heading north to Michigan! We hope your summer days are magical and look forward to our August reunion.
Best,
Heather & Kris
