Week 36 at The Montessori Field School

Next week is our last week of school for the 2022-2023 school year. It's hard to believe! On Monday and Tuesday Luca's mom, Monica, joined us in the mornings to take some professional photos. She volunteered her services and we are excited to share her work with you when it's available (free of charge). Thank you, Monica! Also, thank you to CJ's family for donating two more hammocks! Everyone loves them.

We want to take a moment and say HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of our wonderful MFS dads. The children worked hard to create nature portraits and cards to show how much they love you. We think they turned out so cute and funny!

Our Forest Club was busy preparing for next week's end-of-year festivities by digging up sassafras root and creating a simple syrup for homemade root beer. It was a true community effort to gather the roots, clean them, cut them into small sections, and make the syrup. We are excited to enjoy the fruits of their labors next week.

We distributed Memory Books this week and they turned out so sweet! If you forgot to place an order but really want one, we may be able to place a second order (although it may be a little more expensive as we won't receive bulk pricing). Just let us know ASAP and we can look into that for you!

Things to Look Forward To

We also sent out this information via email, but check out these details for NEXT week (the last week of school!):

Monday & Tuesday

Root Beer Floats...from scratch!

  • We will be making our own root beer and ice cream from scratch!

  • Do you have a giant (think Costco sized) coffee can or something similar? Please send it with your child. We will use them to make ice cream but will also have an electric ice cream maker going. It's just fun to experience the old-fashioned way, too.

  • If your child has a milk allergy let us know so we can provide a non-dairy alternative.

Wednesday

Summer Solstice Family Gathering!

  • Join us from 5:30-8:00ish for an end-of-year celebration! There will be a Fistful of Tacos food truck (bring cash), Uncommon Cups and Cones Ice Cream (bring cash), live music, water play, and a special year-end video. Our new teachers for 2023-2024 will be there for you to meet as well. It's going to be a great time and we hope you can make it! The whole family is welcome!

Thursday & Friday

Bike & Ride at Base Camp!

  • Your child is invited to bring their favorite riding toy with wheels and helmet (bikes, scooters, etc.) to forest school. We will have some extras available.

  • If your child usually only attends forest club (homeschoolers) on Tuesday, they are invited to attend on Thursday as well for our last week of fun.

That's it for now! Enjoy this beautiful weekend and we'll see everyone next week to wrap up an outstanding school year!
